Nexon has announced that 2D MMORPG MapleStory will be getting an in-game collaboration with megastar pop group BTS.
MapleStory initially launched in 2003 and in a series of new videos, BTS group members discuss their history with the franchise including their childhoods memories of the game.
It’s a massive crossover that’s leading to an announcement of an in-game MapleStory x BTS crossover. Looking at the first episode of MapleStory X BTS on Youtube (already over a million views), the comments section is full of BTS super-fans who have come to watch their favourite pop group discuss a game they haven’t played before. It’s a massive get for Nexon and MapleStory given BTS’ worldwide phenomenal star-power, it could give MapleStory a considerable push to an international audience.
Check out the first episode below. Youtube’s English captions did a decent job for me. The group has an almost contagious level of excitement when discussing MapleStory.
Episode 2 is coming December 2 and Episode 3 on December 9.
MapleStory recently held an all-digital event titled MapleStory Fest at Home 2020. Announcements included a new Demon Avenger class coming to MapleStory M on December 1 and the Awake content update that’s just launched.
Nexon Korea’s CEO Jung-Hun-Lee recently announced a collaboration between Attack on Titan and MapleStory which launched on November 25 in-game with exclusive quests.
