Australian Games Sale Features Over 190 Games On Steam
by Dylan Blight
Steam is currently holding that shines a light on the Australian development scene, with the sale featuring discounts up to 90% of some titles.
It’s great to see so many Australian titles featured in one section altogether and hopefully will be a discovery point for many out there.
Pixel Pop Network recently published an interview with Jarrod Farquhar-Nicol who is the Community Manager for Games Plus Canberra who helped get the sale organised.
Our industry has minimal government funding and support. You look at places like Canada where they have significant tax incentives for game development and see the thriving industry there – Australia could be like that, too, with the right support.
If you’re reading this the day it’s published, January 26th, then I suggest you check out Paperbark (I suggest it anyway if you read my review) amongst the many games on sale. Paperbark Games announced via Twitter that they would be donating all the profits from the game on January 26th to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation which works to reduce the disadvantage experienced by children in remote Indigenous communities across Australia.
