The video game industry loves big, exciting trailers, which is why there are so many video game showcase events, and why the biggest celebration of the year in video games often features many trailers. Narrowing down the best video game trailers is tough, simply because there are so many.

Here are my picks for the Best Video Game Trailers released in 2025.

10.) Wolverine – Official Gameplay Reveal

Play

We had a teaser for Insomniac’s next Marvel game a year ago, but the reveal of more than just Logan sitting at a bar, and instead, clawing his way in bloody action within the first proper look at Marvel’s Wolverine had any fan salivating at the upcoming release of this game from the developer that’s already done so well with several Spider-Man games.

9.) Saros – Official Gameplay Trailer

Play

If you loved Returnal as I did, you were probably hoping Saros would be building upon the third-person bullet -hell and hectic action, rather than changing up the game design entirely, and the gameplay trailer for Saros answered all of that with great answers. Here’s some more of that Returnal-like gameplay, with bullets spraying everywhere, and we’re adding in a deeper story. Yes please.

8.) Ghost of Yōtei – Reveal Trailer

Play

After Ghost of Tsushima, the question was always around what the follow-up game would be. Would it still star Jin? Would it still be set in Tsushima, or somewhere else? And the announcement trailer answered these questions with black-and-white fading into 1603 and the introduction of Atsu.

7.) Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – Lore Trailer

Play

Every trailer for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was exciting, from the moment it was first announced, due to its art direction and a turn-based combat RPG coming out of an independent studio. It’s with the story trailer, however, that we got a better idea of what the ‘expedition’ is all about, and of the hints at the emotionally draining, deep narrative that would be delivered in the full game.

6.) Divinity – World Premiere The Game Awards

Play

A horrific and tense first trailer for the next Divinity game leaves you asking just what story and direction this next entry in the series is headed in, and coming off the mega success of Baldur’s Gate 3, the team at Larian Studios has nothing but faith from

5.) Control: Resonant – TGA Trailer

Play

Any big fan of Control and Alan Wake was going to be exhilarated by the first trailer for Control: Resonant. The game now has you playing as Dylan Faded, the brother of the protagonist in Control, and also a character that was one of the original game’s villains.’ And although the trailer leaves plenty of questions about the game’s story and where we’re headed, it did show we’re changing ranged combat for melee in an exciting way.

4.) Dispatch – Release Trailer

Play

The trailer for Dispatch looked super-interesting, like what those of us who loved Telltale games had been looking for in other games. But it looked like they were hopefully going to deliver what the genre needs in 2025. And with the story trailer, it solidified as something to check out as the superhero was introduced, and the characters in the trailer all looked like ones we wanted to learn more about.

3.) Death Stranding 2: On the Beach – Final Trailer

Play

Every Hideo Kojima trailer is worth watching and leaves you with more questions. Usually. The good thing about the gameplay trailer for Death Stranding 2 was that it answered many questions. It looked like Death Stranding again, but with some upgrades, and plenty of big personalities you’ll be coming across on the journey, and signs of another cinematic soundtrack.

2.) Big Walk – Gameplay Overview Trailer

Play

As the follow-up to Untitled Goose Game, there were plenty of questions about what Big Walk would be and if it would be anything similar to House House’s previous game. The answer to most of that is “nope, it’s certainly its own thing,” as is seen in the trailer for Big Walk. A bunch of weird-looking characters, a game about exploration, working together, maybe, also just wandering off, puzzles, and doing silly things.

1.) Grand Theft Auto VI – Second Trailer

Play

Look — Grand Theft Auto VI is simply one of the most anticipated games, to the point that it feels hyperbolic to say “of all time,” but it’s certainly what it feels like. When the second trailer was released, you could feel the pulse of the internet and the world collectively trying to look for anything to grab onto within it, as to signs as to what you’ll be able to do in the game, and what these new characters are going to be like. Each second was being broken down, and overall, the trailer certainly gives off a vibe of a world we should, hopefully, be checking out in 2026.
