At Summer Game Fest on Friday, the team behind Guacamelle and Nobody Saves the World, DrinkBox Studios, announced their new game, Blighted.
This is a metroidvania action-RPG where you can either play alone or with another friend in co-op. It’s set in a “psychedelic western nightmare” where you play as a character attempting to reclaim the memories of their people, who have been lost for a long time. In this world, the dead used to be buried with seeds, which would grow into trees. The fruit from those trees would contain the memories of the dead. But now someone called Sorcisto has eaten the brains raw and by doing so, gained vast knowledge, but also destroyed all the memories of the village you were a part of, as he killed it.
Check out the reveal trailer below, which shows the stunning environments and the dark world you’ll be journeying through when the game releases.
“Blighted is our largest and most ambitious game to date. We’ve been building on the experience from creating our past games, while also experimenting with many new ideas,” said Graham Smith, producer and co-founder at Drinkbox Studios. “We’re working hard towards finishing development of Blighted, and we’re excited to finally reveal it to the world!”
