Bluey’s Happy Snaps – PAX AUS 2026 Preview

We played Bluey's Happy Snaps at PAX Aus 2026 and discovered a charming photo adventure

Bluey’s Happy Snaps has finally landed in the hands of a Brisbane-based developer, Gameloft Brisbane, and it feels like home. An Aussie developer in the same city where Bluey is set, and it shows.

More than a game that recreates the feel of the now-worldwide-beloved children’s show Bluey, it also encourages on-screen co-op and gets kids outdoors to try some of the games Bluey and Bingo play in the real world.

The love for Bluey’s detail and world shows in both the game and in conversations with the team at Gamesloft Brisbane during PAX AUS 2026, from the visuals that give the show its vibrant, colourful style to the exciting voice performances that bring these lovable characters together.

In Happy Snaps, Bluey and Bingo are on holiday and making the most of it by exploring and building a photo-sticker scrapbook album. If you’ve played something like Toem or even Pokémon Snap, it has a similar drive to move the narrative forward. Still, you’re encouraged to look for new things in the wild and interact with others, from playing hide-and-seek with the Terriers to playing tic-tac-toe with Bingo to helping your cousins find ingredients for their salad.

You can lose easily, and I see kids do it a lot, in some of the fun little things you can do in the game. I grabbed a crayon and ran around scribbling nonsense all over the ground; I’m not sure about the legality, but it’s fun either way. Or you can colour in some pictures, either to match how characters should look or to make up your own versions. You can also stamp scrapbook photos from your collection onto these, and I can see kids getting lost in these virtual colouring worlds and having a great time.

One of the most exciting things, and one I think will be great for parents and kids alike, is that Bluey’s Happy Snaps encourages kids to move from watching Bluey and Bingo play silly things, from colouring to tic-tac-toe, to wanting to play them in the real world. The developers told me that some games give you rules and instructions on how to play, or other things like colouring in or building a flower bouquet, and tell kids to take a break from the game and enjoy them with their own siblings or friends. I think this is a fantastic way to encourage good video game time, as well as non-screen time, for all the young gamers out there.

I’m excited to dig into the full game next and enjoy this full Bluey adventure! I’ll have a full review coming soon.
