Respawn Entertainment has announced they’re changing the way you’ll earn Heirlooms in Apex Legends and it’s a huge improvement.
As it stands Heirlooms are one of the most sought after cosmetic items in Apex Legends and the four released so far, one for Wraith, Bloodhound, Lifeline and Pathfinder have all been very nice.
These items replace your basic no-guns characters hands with whatever their Heirloom is. For Pathfinder this is a set of boxing gloves.

If you don’t unlock these Heirlooms during the short window they’re available during events, your chances of unlocking them in an Apex Pack is less than 1% which on top of being ultra-rare means that you could unlock the Heirloom for your least favourite character. To fix this and make sure that players can get the Heirloom set they want you’ll now earn Heirloom Shards, which when you reach enough, you’ll be able to use to redeem whatever Heirloom set you’re after.
These Heirloom shards are going to have the same drop rate as the previous system though and will be rare, but at least now everyone will be able to get the set they want instead of getting shafted by the RNG.
