Marvel Snap has today launched ‘Conquest’, a new competitive game mode and ways to earn new rewards.
In Conquest, you attempt to win as many games in a row as possible, climbing the ranks and unlocking rewards as you go. You start in the ‘Proving Grounds’ tier, which is free to enter and progress through the Silver and Gold tiers. You can bypass entry straight into the Silver/Gold tier with gold nuggets if you’d like.
One final tier, the ‘Infinity’ tier, will only be accessible in the last week of a season. If you win in that tier, you’ll unlock an Infinity-framed version of your current Avatar.
Until the final week, you can play Conquest as many times as you’d like and, hopefully, stock up on ‘Infinity Tickets’ by reaching the last stage of the Gold Tier.
Depending on how many matches you win in a row, you’ll also unlock medals, which can be used to unlock rewards in a new shop. The shop will open new items each week of the season, and most of the items can only be unlocked once. A season-wide bonus can be unlocked by making enough purchases from the medal store in one season. For the current ‘Spider-Versus Season, ‘ the bonus is a Green Goblin variant.
The format of Conquest games is the same as ‘Battle Mode,’ which was introduced some months ago as a way for friends to VS each other. In this format, both players start with 10HP, and instead of snapping to increase the cubes, you’ll be betting/earning; instead, you’re playing with your life. You can’t change decks out either once you’re in a go, so you’re opponent will have a basic idea of what they’re playing against the moment you go into round two. Reach round four or five, and they’ve probably seen your entire deck.
