The 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards were held in Tokyo on Sunday night, crowning ‘Anime of the Year,‘ ‘Film of the Year,‘ ‘Best English Voice Actor,‘ ‘Best Opening Sequence,‘ and more. It was a record-breaking year with over 51 million votes cast to pick the winners, the most of any year so far.
The show featured stars and musicians alike on stage, with renowned voice actress Sally Amaki and popular entertainer Jon Kabira both returning to host for their third year. They were joined at times by J Balvin, Rina Sawayama, Kacey Musgraves and more. Musicians Creepy Nuts, FLOW, and LiSA performed during the show.
The breakout anime of the year was Solo Leveling, which picked up nine awards, Best Anime, Best New Series, Best Action and more. Demon Slayer continues to be a hit, picking up the award for Best Continuing Series, as well as the Best Animation. And unsurprisingly, the music of Dan Da Dan from Creepy Nuts won the Best Opening Sequence and Best Anime Song.
A new award was introduced this year, the ‘Global Impact Award,‘ which celebrates visionary creators and groundbreaking works that have left an indelible mark on culture, history, and the hearts of audiences worldwide. Attack on Titan won the inaugural year for this new award.
