This year’s Day of Dev’s showcase featured 24 games, which is a lot for this particular show. I have no complaints, however, as they all look great with lots of new things to add to Steam Wishlists, or even check out a demo for now.
Here are all the games and trailers shown during this morning’s Day of the Devs stream.
Simpler Times
This experimental game, which is sort of like a meditation and painting game, is out now on PC.
Battle Vision Network
The new game from Capybara Games, the team behind Grindstone, is another cozy puzzle game with colourful design and deep tactics behind its visuals. This time, the team is mixing colour-matching gameplay with turn-based tactics.
Cairn
Following its reveal during SGF prior to the Day of the Devs stream, Cairn got another look in a gameplay trailer.
Petal Runner
With a striking pink pixel art style that’s a throwback to the Game Boy COlour days, Petal Runner is about friends and couriers growing and delivering plants.
Karma: The Dark World
This was a very creepy trailer for Karma: The Dark World, which features plenty of scary hallway moments.
UFO 50
There are fifty games in here unlocked from the get-go, and they’re all new games developed to be GOOD, not just something to give a nostalgia kick. Half of these games also have multiplayer, and there are a bunch of different genres.
UFO 50 is releasing on September 18 for Steam.
Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit
This follow-up to Cozy Grove, will build upon everything that players loved in the first time, and this time, see many more cutie friends.
Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit is coming soon to Netflix Games.
Koira
In Koira, you’re joined by a dog as you make your way through a musical forest.
Aranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure
Looking at Arranger makes my head hurt, but this puzzle game is sure to tickle puzzle-genre geeks. It’s releasing next month on July 25.
July 25.
Fear The Spotlight
This is going to be the first game released by Blumhouse Games, and it’s a throwback to PS1 horror classics.
Screen Bound
I’m sure you’ve seen the GIF of the 2D/3D game Screenbound, as it went viral on Twitter. Well, here’s a deep dive into the game which has you venturing in a first-person view, while playing and controlling a 2D world on a Game Boy-inspired device.
Zoochosis
I thought this might be a cute game about looking after animals in the zoo. It turns out it’s a game about protecting animals in a zoo from an Eldritch-like creature that turns the animals into hybrid new monsters that’ll hunt you.
Zoochosis is releasing later this year for PC.
Tom the Postgirl
It’s a game in which you deliver packages as Tom, and then she decides to be a peeking tom and disrupt people’s lives in all manner of ways.
While Waiting
Another genre I’ve picked up on recently is mundane, but make it a video game’ genre, and While Waiting is squarely on that list. In this game, you wait around for business, luggage, food orders and more, but each of the scenes will have optional tasks or things for you to do.
Psychroma
There’s a lot going on with Psychoroma, a game in which you travel between the past and present, affecting what’s happening in the timeline and solve puzzles and people problems along the way. It’s very cyberpunk inspired, but I mean that in a thematic way, not just a bright flashy lights way.
Building Relationships
A house dating game in which you play as a house going on a date. You explore the island you live on “just like a real house.” Yep, this is a bizarre and exciting game.
A Little To The Left
The second DLC for A Little to The Left is titled ‘Seeing Stars,’ and this DLC will add 33 new levels, each that have multiple ways to solve them.
Hello Again
An odd pitch of ‘Outer Wild + Animal Crossing’ should get a niche bunch to call this GOTY before it’s released. Hello Again does have all the cozy vibes of Animal Crossing, but with the added twist that everyone in the game is stuck in a time loop.
Afterlove EP
In Afterlove EP, you’re in a band looking for the perfect rhythm and dates. This looks interesting, and the best part is there’s a demo on Steam now to help you learn more.
Phoenix Springs
With a unique and very vibrant art style, this point-and-click mystery game looks fantastic.
Phoenix Springs will be released on September 16 for PC.
Tides of Tomorrow
From DigixArt, the team behind Road 96 and its spin-off, comes a “multiplayer narrative adventure.” In the game, two real-world players explore the same world, making choices that affect how the world and other characters react to the other player.
That’s all the trailers and news from Day of the Devs 2024. In the comment section below, let me know what you thought of the show and if you have a favourite trailer to highlight.
