EA Teases Respawn And DICE Collaboration As Star Wars Battlefront 3 Rumours Grow
EA confirms Respawn and DICE are collaborating on a new shooter project
Electronic Arts announced that BioWare would be closed, and in the same memo, it shared other tidbits, including a tease of what DICE & Respawn could be working on next.
In a memo obtained by Variety, President Cam Weber and Chief Studios Officer David Tinson said:
“Battlefield 6 was a great success, and we learned a lot from the launch and the live service. We’re going to take those learnings, balance our resources, and leverage the technology to deliver a shooter portfolio that unlocks growth. In addition to our future Battlefield titles, we’ll be bringing together our Respawn and DICE studios to collaborate on a future project that will help us achieve that ambition.”
This is rumoured to be a brand-new entry in the Star Wars Battlefront series, which has been dormant since Star Wars Battlefront II’s release in 2017.
Some teases for the future of Apex Legends came in the note that:
“We’re also continuing to invest heavily in Apex over the next few years by introducing brand new gameplay modes in multiplayer, and other new experiences, to expand the universe”
Whether or not this could be a new Titanfall game is what fans of the larger Titanfall/Apex universe will be asking, of course. A single-player Apex/Titanfall game seems likely, as EA’s restrictions and BioWare’s shutdown suggest a strong desire to focus on Games-as-Service rather than single-player games outside big titles like the next Star Wars Jedi entry.
