There was a rumour earlier this week that a prominent A24 director was working with Bandai Namco on an adaptation for an Elden Ring movie, and it’s now been confirmed.

Alex Garland, the director of films like Civil War and Annihilation, will work with Bandai Namco to bring the game to life. It’s unknown at this time if he’ll be writing, directing, or just overseeing the project. However, in recent interviews, Garland has stated he’s interested in writing more than directing currently, although this project could bring him back to the director’s seat earlier than he’d planned.

Elden Ring has enough lore backing, with George R.R. Martin providing the world and lore for FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki to build upon.

If it comes to fruition, this will be FromSoftware’s first film adaptation. But a successful film here would surely see Dark Souls and Bloodborne follow. Although I think a Bloodborne adaptation before the 60fps version of the game might drive some fans, myself included, insane.

Let me know if you’d be excited to watch the Elden Ring film below.
