‘Espire 1’ Brings ‘Metal Gear Solid’ & ‘Splinter Cell’ Vibes To VR

During UploadVR’s first E3 2019 Presentation they revealed the release date for the upcoming Espire 1, which is being developed by Digital Lode. I hadn’t seen the game before personally and there’s a moment early in the video where Michael Wentworth-Bell, the game director at Digital Lode explains they started working on Espire 1 because there are no stealth games in VR, and it really made me think… Yeah, there isn’t really hey?

Over the two and a half minute trailer both Wentworth-Bell and Nick Acciarito, the production manager really sold me on this stealth experience.

The gameplay we see involves a lot of stealth-game usual’s but in VR, it’s really exciting. You can throw objects to attract enemies, sneak between cover, climb up walls to cover using some fancy gloves and even speak into your headset’s mic to hold up enemies.

Digital Code also talked about working on a system to lower potential VR sickness, which we all know is one of the biggest detriments to VR as a whole.

Espire 1 is coming to Rift, Vive, Index, Windows VR, Quest and PSVR in August.
