This morning, Capcom held another Resident Evil Showcase, with the main focus being the upcoming Resident Evil Village release. We did get some surprises, including a reveal of Resident Evil 4 in VR and a trailer for the upcoming Netflix animated series, Infinite Darkness.
Here are all the announcements and news from the showcase.

We got a brand new trailer for Resident Evil Village that showed, of course, Lady Dimitrescu, this time sipping on Ethan’s blood, but we also saw a decent tease of lycan action. Chris Redfield is here for a brief appearance, and once again, his motives are very unclear, and the trailer does a great job of teasing what I’m sure will be an interesting twist.
The demo that was announced in the last Resident Evil Showcase received a release date and time, even if it’s all a little confusing. The demo will be time-limited on all platforms, with PS5/PS4 players getting exclusive early access.
[Update 1: Australia demo times were confirmed to be European times not Asian as I’d assumed by Press Start and the article has been updated to reflect the correct times.]
PS4/PS5 players can play the ‘Village Demo’ for 30 minutes this Monday, April 19, from 3 AM until 11 AM on Monday, April 19 AEST.
PS4/PS5 players can then play the ‘Castle Demo’ for 30 minutes from 3 AM on Sunday, April 26 until Monday, April 26 at 11 AM AEST.
If you’re on PS5 you can pre-download the demo now.

And then, everyone will get access to either demo for a total time of 60 minutes. Which demo you choose to spend your time in will be up to you. This demo period starts at 8 PM Sunday, May 2 and ends on Monday, May 3 at 8 PM AM AEST.
It’s a little confusing, but basically, PlayStation players: demo this weekend. Everyone else: demo in two weeks.
The showcase then moved into showing off the new Mercenaries mode inside Resident Evil Village. The new merchant will sell you guns and upgrades between areas, and you’ll be able to unlock abilities that increase your defence or offence tactics.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

The upcoming Netflix animated series got a trailer during the showcase. The story here takes places a couple of years after Resident Evil 4 with Leon S. Kennedy working as a bodyguard for the President (the same one who’s the daughter he saved). Claire Redfield is visiting the White House one day when all hell breaks loose, and zombies begin to invade. Save the President!
The animated Resident Evil movies are usually pretty fun, and this seems to be on par with those.
Resident Evil: Welcome To Racoon City
In case you’ve missed the memo, yes, there is another live-action Resident Evil movie on the way. Capcom confirmed that filming has finished during the showcase this morning, and they’re well into post-production work on the film.
The film stars Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, Lily Gao as Ada Wong, and Neal McDonough as William Birkin.
Dead by Daylight X Resident Evil
More details are coming on May 25, but Resident Evil is the next big-name horror franchise to join Dead by Daylight in some capacity.
Resident Evil 4 VR

It’s not the full remake of Resident Evil 4 that fans have been asking for, but RE4 is making its way to another platform.
Armature developed this VR version of Resident Evil 4 which takes action into a first-person view. We can expect more details during Oculus’ showcase on April 21.
You can watch the showcase in full below.
