Final Fantasy 7 On PS5 News.png

Final Fantasy VII Remake’s sequels will be on next-gen hardware — it’s easy to know that — but thanks to a Game Informer interview, we now know FF7 Remake (part one) will probably come to PS5 as well.

Speaking to Yosuke Matsuda, the Square Enix president and CEO, Game Informer asked about the possibility of Final Fantasy VII Remake being cross-gen, to which he confirmed the game is being developed as a cross-generation game.

“I believe that our teams have made it so that the game will support both the next generation and the current generation of consoles. I believe it is being developed so that it is going to be playable on both, so I’m not really concerned about that (the series of games being split across two generations) and I believe that the fans are also going to be able to enjoy it on both, including the next-generation of consoles.”

This is good news if the Final Fantasy VII Remake will release on the PS5 (or whatever it’s called) as it’s releasing at the tail end of the current generation. All sequels that will eventually make up the full Final Fantasy VII Remake experience will – hopefully – be releasing on the next-generation, so having the full games on there would make sense.

The @finalantasyvii Twitter account posted snippets of an interview with Yoshinori Kitase, the producer on the FF7 Remake in which he said that he thinks the sequel games will take less time, due to the work they’ve already done. Hopefully, this is true and we’re not playing Final Fantasy VII Remakes for the next 20 years.

The biggest question is: if you think the PS5 will release late 2020 with a Final Fantasy VII Remake on the console, will you wait? Let us know down below.
