Did Sonic the Hedgehog appear on the new season of Queer Eye? Because he has had one hell of a makeover in the new trailer which is sure to get people excited for the new movie.
On 30th of April, we were graced with our first look at the live action adaptation of the Sega video game, Sonic the Hedgehog. No one was prepared for the beautiful abomination that would be unleashed on the world. With his toothy almost-human grin and human-sized legs, this design of the beloved Sega mascot drew widespread and universal criticism, one of the few things this year to bring people of all waves of life together. Here is that trailer again if you have somehow purged that memory from your brain:

The criticism was so sever that director Jeff Fowler took to Twitter to reveal that they were going to make changes to the designs. The film was eventually pushed from its planned release date of November 8th to 14th of February. And now Paramount Pictures have released a new trailer with the new look Sonic:

This is quite frankly leaps and bounds better than the first design, and a better trailer in for this film in general. They have leaned in to the cartoony nature of the character that is not only more true to the character, but makes everything around it seems better. Ben Schwartz’s voice performance and Sonic’s general attitude fits this iteration much better, and now everyone feels like they are on the same page, particularly Jim Carrey’s over the top performance as Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Early internet reaction is overwhelmingly positive which is sure to be a relief to all those involved. The only question now is what did they do to Jim Carrey’s face on the new poster?
Rest in peace toothy human-hybrid Sonic. Your death was not it vain.
