I’ve never played a Monster Hunter game (sorry) but I’m still very much down for these Monster Hunter movie posters that IGN just revealed.

The first shows Mila Jovovich holding a big ass sword that looks pretty darn bad-ass to me, but I quickly learned, thanks to the internet, that this is the starting weapon in the game and I’m not supposed to be as impressed. Either way, Jovovich looks bad-ass.

The second poster features Tony Jaa wielding some sort of big bow and arrow system. I’m excited to see Jaa in this movie as a fan of his work, however, Jovovich is winning the best poster award her easily.

What’s interesting about this film is it’s — as far as I’m aware — completely changing the general story for the Monster Hunter games from Capcom. Here Jolovich’s character will be playing a sorta fish-outta-water scenario as her characters transported to the world, not born into it.

“When Lt. Artemis and her loyal soldiers are transported to a new world, they engage in a desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers.”

Monster Hunter is directed by Paul W.S Anderson, who of course has a sometimes solid video game adaption history including Mortal Kombat and several Resident Evil films, all of which have their ups-and-downs.

We might be getting close to a trailer soon with these posters and a September release date looming in the distance.

Let us know what you think of the posters below.
