Edgar Wright’s version of The Running Man has received its first trailer overnight, and it features plenty of action, as expected and a Glen Powell who is more than ready for the fight of his life.

The plot of The Running Man, which is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, seems more relevant now than it ever did. Powell plays Ben Richards, a man living in the United States in the future, where a totalitarian government runs the country, and the poor and downtrodden are the majority. Unable to help his sick daughter and without any health care, Ben looks for a way to get the money and ends up agreeing to take part in ‘The Running Man,’ a gameshow where you must escape for thirty days while a whole bunch of killers come after you, but if you manage to win you’ll earn a big cash reward.

Play

Of course, The Running Man was previously adapted in 1987, with Arnold Schwarzenegger playing the role of Ben Richards. However, in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the idea of a dystopian future seemed further off than it does now. Instead, we’re now living in a world where we’re approaching an America that seems almost destined to sever its support and relationships with other countries and could quickly approach something similar to what’s seen in The Running Man.

Alongside Glen Powell, the film also stars Katy O’Brian, Josh Brolin, Lee Pace, Michael Cera, Jayme Lawson, and William H. Macy.

The Running Man will be released on November 6, 2025. Are you looking forward to watching this one? What did you think of the trailer? Let me know in the comments section below.
