In a disappointing but predictable turn of events, Fortnite had nothing but issues for a huge amount of people this morning — myself included — as we all tried to log in for the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker event.

I turned to Twitch to watch the event live and ended up in Myth’s stream with Pokimaine along for the ride.

The event started with the Millenium Falcon flying into Fortnite Island with Tie Fighters quickly following and Star Destroyers blasting into the background. The ships had a dog fight in the air before the Millenium Falcon landed on the Island with Geoff Keighley appearing to do an introduction.

Director The Rise of Skywalker, J.J. Abrams made his appearance and some jokes were had with another Stormtrooper before the players were made to vote between four scenes, ‘Jedi Mind Trick’, ‘Rey & Kylo Power Ballad’, ‘Darth Jar Jar’ and ‘Knights of Ren’, with the Jedi Mind Trick scene winning the vote.

The clip that played was of Rey, Finn and Poe landing on a First Order ship before bumping into some Stormtroopers and Rey using a Jedi mind trick to trick them. We’ve seen it before in a TV spot, but just without the landing part.

At the end of the event, Palpatine is heard saying: “at last the work of generations is complete. The great error is corrected. The day of victory is at hand. The day of revenge. The day of the Sith!
