Gigabash was only given a small 30-second trailer during yesterday’s State of Play, but there is plenty more information out about it.
For starters, it is also coming to Steam and Epic Games Store, no Xbox or Switch for this one just yet, but this could change.
I first thought this game was a video game version of the board game King of Tokyo, but whilst it isn’t that, it does seem to be fairly similar. The monsters (named Titans) on display have spent centuries slumbering deep within the earth have been awoken and must battle both humanity and each other for total world domination.
Players will play as either a Titan or a Titan hunting Mecha (the State of Play was big on Mech announcements, huh) in a gameplay style drawing inspiration from Super Smash Bros, War of Monsters and Power Stone.
Gigabash will also have multiple game modes, including a ‘Hall of the Alphas’, online ‘Duel Mode’, ‘Stomping Ground’, and a classic free for all up to 4 players, while ‘Clash of the Titans’ has four unique single-player campaigns with individual protagonists.
The game will also have multiplayer mayhem across online and couch coop options and promise easy to learn but difficult to master combat, with grabs, blocks, and specials along with your regular attacks as you build up a Giga Energy metre to review your final form.
Gigbash is up for wishlist on Steam now, slated for 2022, and is being developed by Passion Republic Gamers, a Malaysian-based creator team. Their website has more in-depth info on the individual characters if you want to know more: https://passionrepublicgames.com/characters/
