Helldivers 2 will be the first PlayStation-published game to come to Xbox consoles.

Arrowhead Games and Xbox have announced that Helldivers 2 will be released on Xbox Series X|S on August 26, featuring cross-play between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Players on all consoles will be able to team up in three-person squads to fight against the insect-like aliens, the Terminds; the robotic Automatons and their thirst for blood; as well as the Illuminate, a group of mind-control aliens. And who knows what the forces of the Helldivers might have to take on next to protect Super Earth?

Sharing the news on the Xbox Wire, Arrowhead Games Director Mikael Eriksson said:

“We know gamers have been asking for this for some time, and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. We have so much more in store for the future months and years – and the more players we have, the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun.”

There will be two editions of the game available on Xbox Series X|S: the base version for $39.99 and a ‘Super Citizen Edition’ for $59.99.

According to the Xbox Wire post, the game is a co-development between Arrowhead Games and Nixxes Software, with the latter presumably working on the port for Xbox. There is also no mention of a requirement to sign in to PSN anywhere, but only time will tell if that’s a requirement.
