Just when I thought I was out. When I thought I’d lived down all the naysayers talking about Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit not being good — they go and pull me back in with Hot Wheels.
Velan Studios (the studio behind Knockout City that just announced they are ending the game) has announced they are using the same tech behind Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit to bring Hot Wheels Rift Rally, a mixed-reality racer, to PlayStation and Apple.
Like Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, the game works as a combination of an RC racer and a digital game. By placing ‘reality games’ around your house, you can create a track, and then you will race a physical car through these gates by looking at the screen on your TV or iPhone. A significant change between this and Mario Kate Live: Home Circuit is that the cars on the screen will be able to change into 140+ Hot Wheels vehicles, there is a stunt mode, and you can race three other players in the same room.
Check out the reveal trailer below.
