Imprint Films has announced four new Limited Edition Blu-ray releases arriving this August that celebrate acclaimed dramas and thrillers from the 1940s and 1950s.

The latest additions to the Imprint Collection include two worldwide Blu-ray debuts, standout performances by Marlon Brando and James Edwards, and films by legendary directors John Huston and Fred Zinnemann.

You can pre-order the films from July 15 and purchase them all in one package.

Here’s everything included in the August lineup.

We Were Strangers (1949)

Director John Huston’s political thriller We Were Strangers makes its worldwide Blu-ray debut as part of the Imprint Collection.

Set against the backdrop of revolutionary Cuba, the film follows an underground group plotting to overthrow a brutal dictatorship. Upon its original release, the film proved controversial, with Huston independently financing the project as a response to the anti-Communist sentiment sweeping through Hollywood at the time.

Ladies in Retirement (1941)

Also making its worldwide Blu-ray debut is the acclaimed Broadway adaptation Ladies in Retirement.

The psychological drama centres on Ellen, a devoted housekeeper whose quiet life is disrupted when her eccentric sisters arrive to stay, setting off a chain of escalating tensions that ultimately lead to murder.

The film received Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction and Best Original Score.

Home of the Brave (1949)

Starring James Edwards in a groundbreaking leading role, Home of the Brave was one of Hollywood’s earliest films to confront racism directly.

Set during World War II, the story follows a reconnaissance platoon tasked with mapping a Japanese-held island. As the dangerous mission unfolds, racial prejudice within the group begins to surface, placing further strain on the soldiers.

Shot in secret over just 30 days, the film remains an important milestone in American cinema.

The Men (1950)

Marlon Brando made his feature film debut in The Men, the powerful drama directed by Academy Award winner Fred Zinnemann (High Noon).

Brando stars as a young infantry lieutenant who returns from World War II paralysed from the waist down. Struggling to adapt to his new life, he begins a difficult journey toward acceptance with the support of a determined doctor and fellow patients.

Widely regarded as one of Brando’s earliest showcases of his revolutionary acting style, The Men remains a landmark post-war drama.

Each release is strictly limited to 1,500 copies, with pre-orders opening on Wednesday, July 15.
