Before the Christmas/Holiday break, I received some Lizard Skin grips for the PS5 DualSense controller and the Xbox Series X/S’s Controller. I’ve spent a lot of time with them since, and they’ve been fantastic additions to my controller and gaming, though some may find the application hard and look to hurt the naked controller plastic.
These grips are similar to what you may have felt if you own an Xbox Elite Controller. They add a bit more curvature to the controller, a soft and comfortable medium plastic, and genuinely can make a difference in hardcore online gaming sessions.
I’m going to side with anybody who prefers the controllers’ look without the grips. That’s not to say the Lizard Skin doesn’t come in a variety of colours and designs, because they do, but I would much prefer my controller to look the way it does out of a box. For my DualSense skin, I applied it to the second white controller I had, as I didn’t want to ruin the black DualSense I had picked up over the Black Friday sales.
Applying the Lizard Skin grips can be a little bit tricky, and the one on my DualSense has a noticeable error, while my Xbox Controller, being the second controller I applied the skins to, is perfectly fine. Both the DualSense and Xbox Controller have two pieces to use around each side of the controller. It can be hard to get perfect. For me, the seal on the side of the controller and attempting to get both Lizard Skins to seal just beside that was a little bit tedious. You can get away with pulling the skin off and reapplying it a couple of times in the hour of the summoning.
I pick up my Lizard Skin DualSense whenever I jump online, as the extra grip does make some difference. Not having readjusted my hands as the controller gets sweaty under hours of long, tense shooters is worth picking up a set of these alone.
Lizard Skin grips are a recommended purchase.
