Joining the news earlier today that Dirt 5 wouldn’t let you transfer save files between the PS4 and PS5 version of the game, Tripwire Interactive has now also confirmed the same is true for Maneater.
Maneater will be getting a next-gen upgrade that supports ray-tracing, 4K HDR at 60fps and will be a free upgrade for both Xbox and PlayStation players.
If you own Maneater on a disc you can simply insert the game into your console, download the update and play the newly enhanced edition. If you own the game digitally you’ll simply be able to download the new version of the game from your library.
In the blog post announcing the upgrade path Tripwire Interactive wrote the following:
This is not a different application/game on Xbox Series S & X and saves and trophies/achievements will carry forward.
This may require subscriptions to additional services such as Xbox Gold (such as for cloud save transfers)
This IS a separate application/game on PlayStation 5 and trophies, stats and saves will not transfer
At least that does mean PlayStation 5 players will have another platinum to go for with Maneater on the next-gen system.
Tripwire Interactive also announced that a new physical copy will be available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. PC players will be getting the next-gen upgrades in early 2021.
When I reviewed Maneater on PlayStation 4 earlier in the year I was critical of its frame rate among some other technical issues. It sounds like this next-gen enhanced version could fix those.
