It’s been a while since we’ve seen or heard Insomniac Games talk about the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 or Marvel’s Wolverine. Two games they announced at the back end of 2020. Today on the PS Blog, however, Ryan Schneider, Head of Franchise Strategy & Studio Relations at Insomniac Games, dropped in to give a little bit of an update.
Firstly, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming exclusively to PS5 in 2023. That’s next year in case you’ve lost a hold on time these days, but I wouldn’t blame you. Most interesting is the PS5 exclusivity as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a PS5 launch game launched on both PS4 & PS5, and even the recently released Horizon Forbidden West is on both consoles. This could be a sign that Sony will transition out of the PS4 support in 2023, or simply put, the game couldn’t be ported for the PS4.

“We’re so thrilled to continue the journey of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in their most epic single-player adventure yet,” said Schneider. Both confirming that the game will feature both Spider-Man, but also in tandem, letting down my hopes of any co-op action. Schneider continued: “we’re so thrilled to continue the journey of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in their most epic single-player adventure yet.”
Bryan Intihar, the creative director on Marvel’s Spider-Man, is returning for the job on this game, as is Ryan Smith as game director. Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter will reprise their Peter Parker and Miles Morales roles, respectively. Tony Todd has been revealed as the voice of Venom in the game. Todd is most known for his performance as Candyman in the original films.
Touching on Marvel’s Wolverine briefly, Brian Horton will serve as creative director and Cameron Christian game director; the two just led the efforts on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The game is in “very early development,” so don’t expect it for some time.
