The upcoming spin-off multiplayer-only The Last of Us game has got a new developer on deck, with Anders Howard joining the team. This is interesting because he’s a big part of Epic Games’ success, with Fortnite having success as a free-to-play game, adding fuel to the fire that The Last of Us multiplayer game will be F2P.

Anders Howard worked with Epic Games on Fortnite for nearly eight years, and he’ll be joining Naughty Dog as Principal Monetization Designer (as announced on his Twitter and spotted by TheGamer). A role that sounds very F2P based.

Little is known about The Last of Us multiplayer project, but the last time we officially heard anything about it, it was during Gamescom with Geoff Keighley. With The Game Awards only a month away, it wouldn’t be surprising to get a title reveal, at least during that show.

The Last of Us Remastered still has an active player base, and those that love the multiplayer portion of that game have been seeking information on the upcoming full-fledged game for some time now, so hopefully, we can get something and maybe a release date in 2023.
