Netflix has officially announced the long-rumoured tier with ads for Australia and what price it’ll be.
The ad-tiers of Netflix, which sounds like something that would be free, will instead cost you AUD $6.99 a month. It’s nearly half the price of the cheapest ad-free subscription plan, but considering the limitations this tier puts upon you, I’m not sure of the target audience and who would choose to take it.
For the number of ads you’ll be watching, Netflix has said it’ll be about four to five minutes of ads per hour, with them ranging from fifteen or thirty seconds in length.
For a start, streaming will be limited to 720p, which is barely HD. You can’t download movies or shows to devices for offline streaming, and there will be a small pool of movies and shows that won’t be available on this tier, although Netflix is yet to list what those are.
Would you want to save the extra dollars and switch the Netflix with the ads tier? Let me know in the comment section below.
