After revealing that they would soon be rolling out changes to how you can share your Netflix account in February, the changes are starting to take effect today.
Netflix has announced this morning that as of today, subscribers who are sharing their account with people who live outside their household will be getting emails about changes to their service.
“A Netflix account is for use by one household. Everyone living in that household can use Netflix wherever they are – at home, on the go, on holiday.”
Netflix will be logging its users’ IP addresses so they know what is considered the “home” of its users. If you are logged into a tablet or phone, for example, you can continue to use Netflix on those devices; they’ll simply need to connect to your “home network” once every month.
Netflix has added a new feature today to help accommodate those who may want to keep sharing Netflix with those outside their home. Account holders can add additional members to their account for $7.99/month, that’ll enable those who live outside your home network to log in and use Netflix with their account details.
Those wishing to transfer their suggestions, watch history and more to their own account can now also do that with a Prolife Transfer option.
What do you think about Netflix cutting back on users sharing their accounts with those outside their own homes? Let me know in the comment section below.
