A new model of the Nintendo Switch will be hitting shelves in August in Japan, and although other territories haven’t been announced as of writing, we can assume this will be worldwide.
Model number ‘HAC-001(-01)’ will boast a significantly improved battery life and that’s it, as far as we know. There might be slight improvements inside the Switch itself leading to faster load times, which would be pretty normal for a hardware upgrade like this, but we might not know until it releases.
The newer model of the Nintendo Switch will give you an estimated battery life of 4.5 – 9 hours depending on the game your playing. The example given is that Breath of The Wild, a more intense game to play on the go, will run for approximately 5.5 hours.
So your battery life for Nintendo Switch models will now sit at:
-
Launch Nintendo Switch 2.5 – 6.5 hours
-
HAC-001(-01) Nintendo Switch 4.5 – 9 hours
-
Nintendo Switch Lite 3 – 7 hours
Nintendo recently announced the Nintendo Switch Lite to mixed reception, with many speaking out on how they’d prefer a Nintendo Switch Pro to be announced, and although this isn’t quite that, it appears the closest we’ll be getting.
Nintendo also announced two brand new Joy-Con colours which look pretty great.
