Following the rumour from journalist Jez Corden posted on X last week, Eurogamer and VideoGamesChornicle now report that Nintendo did indeed show the Nintendo Switch successor behind closed doors at Gamescom.

According to both outlets, Nintendo showed tech demos of the Nintendo Switch successor to select press members and others involved in the games industry. One of the tech demos was of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, although Eurogamer noted that this was just a tech demo and not a game Nintendo has plans to release for the console.

VGC had another source that claimed that Nintendo also showcased The Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine 5 tech demo, which would be impressive if running on the Nintendo Switch successor.

Everyone believes that the unannounced Nintendo Switch successor will be released in 2024, presumably at the back end of the year.

Whether the console will be revealed before the end of this year is the question no one seems to know how to answer, especially with Nintendo still having a solid catalogue of games releasing later this year, like Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Detective Pikachu Returns. But what do you think? Let me know in the comment section below.
