If you’d tried to guess the next project Robert Eggers would add to his schedule, I don’t think you’d have guessed A Christmas Carol, but that is what the writer and director are reportedly lining up.

A Christmas Carol, the classic Charles Dickens Christmas story where three ghosts visit Ebenezer Scrooge, is, according to Deadline, another project that Robert Eggers is lining up.

The director is currently riding the success of the release of Nosferatu last December, which proved to be an unusual Christmas-time box office success.

Play

Willem Dafoe, who has now co-starred in Eggers’ last three films, is reportedly the pick to play Scrooge in this film. As for the ghosts, we could only begin to guess who he’d cast, but I’d love to see an all-star lineup with Robert Pattinson, Alexander Skarsgård, and then Anya Taylor-Joy.

Robert Eggers is currently working on his next film, which will move from vampires to werewolves with Werwulf. The film is scheduled to start shooting later this year, with a release date of Christmas Day 2026The script is co-written with Sjón, with whom he co-wrote The Northman.
