Valve announced a really interesting feature a couple of months ago that was recently put through closed beta tests. ‘Remote Play Together’ is now live on Steam and it lets you play local-only co-op games with your friends over the internet, breaking down the walls of distance.
This feature will allow you to place with up to three other friends in an ever-growing list of local co-op games. As I personally have spent a lot of time complaining in various forums about how much I love some games, but don’t have the local friends to make them fun, this is certainly a feature that could change what games interest me.
Only the host needs to own whatever game you’re trying to play as your friends can join using their PC, Steam Chat or Steam Link mobile apps.
Steam is currently putting on a Remote Play Together sale that features local co-op games. These include Heave Ho, Overcooked, Rockets Rockets Rockets, Death Squared, Push Me Pull You, Gang Beasts, River City GIrls, Cuphead, Adventure Pals and more.
This is an exciting technology that will make friends wanting to play together over a long distance so much easier.
