PlayStation Plus Games and Trophies For November 2018

Sony has released the upcoming list of games coming to PlayStation Plus for for November 2018. Leading this month’s titles is a trip to Japan through Yakuza Kiwami, a remake of the first game in the long-running franchise. For some sci-fi shoot-em-up fun, you’ll also have Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition to play. No bonus PlayLink or PSVR titles this month though, disappointingly.
This month you’ll be able to achieve a total of 3 Platinum, 9 Gold, 33 Silver and 149 Bronze trophies. One of the lowest trophy and particularly platinum counts in months.
The easiest Platinum is Burly Men at Sea which can take you a few hours to Platinum with a good guide.
All of this month’s games will be available from November 6th.

YAKUZA KIWAMI (PS4)
‘10 years ago, Kazuma Kiryu took the fall for a crime he didn’t commit to save his best friend. Expelled from his yakuza family, Kiryu is released from prison to a city he no longer recognizes. Chaos erupts when 10 billion yen vanishes from the Tojo Clan vault, and with Kiryu caught in the middle, he finds everything points to a young, mysterious girl named Haruka. Together, they must survive to find the answers they both seek.’
A remake of the original Yakuza game, Kiwami was released in early 2017 to moderately good reviews and praise from fans of the franchise. Some argue it is easily the best release in many years as it allowed new players to jump on at a good point.
Yakuza Kiwami will probably take you upwards of 100 hours to platinum with the help of a guide for mini-games and more RNG elements in particular. Veterans of the franchise can do it a lot faster, but if this is your first Yakuza expect it to take some time.

BULLETSTORM: FULL CLIP EDITION (PS4)

Full Clip Edition offers a visual upgrade to the 2011 shooter that was all about killing enemies in style. Something that was a little lacking when it was originally released, but we have DOOM sitting proudly now. Still, if a fun FPS with colourful environments and colourful language sounds like a good afternoon to you, may I introduce Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition.
Getting the Platinum in Bulletstorm requires a guide or a good eye for the collectables and playing through the game presumably twice as it has a ‘very hard’ difficulty. Not impossible, although there are still reports of glitches carried over from the original trophy list.

JACKBOX PARTY PACK 2 (PS3)
‘The sequel to the party game phenomenon The Jackbox Party Pack, featuring FIVE fresh, rib-tickling party games!’
At this stage, I don’t really know who’s going to be excited for a Jackbox game on the PS3, but here it is. There are some classics on Party Pack 2 like Fibbage and Quiplash XL.
Using many devices and tricks you can play through Jackbox Party Pack 2 and get all the trophies yourself in around 4-5 hours.

ARKEDO SERIES (PS3)

There are three games here. JUMP! a retro-inspired game about collecting bombs and invading enemies. SWAP! a tile-matching puzzle game. And PIXEL! where you play as a cat in another retro-inspired design completing platforming levels. Out of the three games which were all released solo at different stages I’ve only played PIXEL!
The trophies wouldn’t be such a pain if it wasn’t for the tile matching madness necessary to complete a bunch of challenges and also unlocking 1000 treasure while playing SWAP! If you plan to go for the 100% there isn’t much you can do other than have patience and persistence.

BURLY MEN AT SEA (PS4, PS VITA)
‘One of TIME’s top ten games of the year, Burly Men at Sea is a folktale about a trio of large, bearded fishermen who step away from the ordinary to seek adventure. With gameplay halfway between a visual novel and a point-and-click adventure, the branching story carries its ungainly heroes into waters where lurk creatures from Scandinavian folklore and other misadventures. You play as storyteller and wayfinder, shaping a custom tale that begins again where it ends.’
Three burly men find a treasure map and set off to follow it. The game is about your decisions and features 12 different endings, making for fun replayability outside your first finish.
The 12 endings also meant it could potentially be a pain to platinum, but of course thanks to some very helpful guides you can find online, you’ll be able to wrap up the endings super-fast if you’re only playing for trophies or in a couple hours if you’re still enjoying the story each time.

ROUNDABOUT (PS4, PS Vita)
‘Drive a constantly spinning limousine around town! Roundabout is a ’70s B-Movie game where you pick up passengers, find secret collectibles, take on dangerous missions, and fall in love in a far out open world puzzle adventure – all while driving a revolving limo!’
Inspired by 70’s B-movies, Roundabout tells the oddball story of a limousine diver with the only limousine that can move in a constant… well, roundabout motion. If the FMV cutscenes with corny acting don’t crack you up somewhat you might just enjoy the weird and hectic gameplay.
Trophy wise it’ll take a fair amount of time, but it’s not too hard. One of the challenges for instances involves you having to drive for 8 hours straight (yep) and then there are different jumps and collectables around the map to pick up as well as some speedrun type activities. Roundabout seems like it could have easily been a Platinum, so it’s disappointing to see it wasn’t given one.
