‘Red Dead Online’ Beta Available Tomorrow
by Dylan Blight
Red Dead Online is launching tonight for some players and tomorrow for others, but most importantly, Red Dead Online is basically here.
Via a rather confusing blog post that breaks down who has access and who does not for the who, what, when and where of the Beta, Rockstar has revealed the following.
-
12:30 AM AEDT Wednesday the Beta is live for Red Dead Redemption 2 Ultimate Edition owners.
-
Sometime the following day, those who played the game on launch day (according to Rockstars data) will get access.
-
The next day players who played within the first three days of the game’s launch will get access.
-
Then the week of Beta access will open access to everyone.
The pitch for Red Dead Online as posted by Rockstar:
With the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as its foundation, Red Dead Online transforms the vast and deeply detailed landscapes, cities, towns and habitats of Red Dead Redemption 2 into a new, living online world ready to be shared by multiple players. Create and customize your character, tailor your abilities to suit your play style and head out into a new frontier full of things to experience.
Explore the world solo or with friends. Form or join a Posse to ride with up to seven players; gather around the fire at your Camp; head out hunting or fishing; visit bustling towns; battle enemy gangs and attack their hideouts; hunt for treasure; take on missions and interact with familiar characters from across the five states; or fight against other outlaws in both spontaneous skirmishes and pitched set-piece battles; compete with other players or whole Posses in open world challenges and much more.
It’s a confusing roll-out, but one that makes sense given how busy their servers are sure to be.
The tldr is that you can play Red Dead Online tonight (kinda) if you own the Ultimate Edition.
