PlayStation has decided to shed some small details on their next VR headset, and I’m very happy to share them. Although there are no pictures of the headset, controllers or games to share today, it’s still an exciting piece of news with some interesting tidbits.
Firstly, the next-generation VR (PSVR2 is not used in the blog post detailing the information) will be coming to PS5. In the PS Blog post, Hideaki Nishino states that the headset won’t be coming in 2021 either, but it sounds like we’ll see it this year with a 2022 release.
The upgrades in the next-generation of PlayStation VR will be massive. The headset will include improved resolution, field of view, tracking, and most excitingly, will use a single cord to connect to the PS5 for ease-of-use and enable quick plug-and-play.
However, for me personally, I’m thankful to find out that the next-generation of PlayStation VR will not use the PlayStation Move controllers. Instead, PlayStation is working on a brand new “VR Controller” that will incorporate some of the critical features of the DualSense. They don’t state exactly what this is, but the idea of haptic feedback in VR is fantastic.
That’s all the information shared today, but as a day one PSVR adopter, I’m super excited to know that PSVR2, or whatever it’s called, is on its way.
How do you feel about the details revealed? Let me know in the comments below.
