EA premiered the trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons early Tuesday morning and it’s full of X-Wings, Tie-Fighters an assortment of other Star Wars ships. The game is releasing October 2 and will be available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
It’s a cinematic trailer that sets up the basics of the game but we do know some things about the game thanks to information released online after.
The description for the game on EA’s website reads:
“Plan every skirmish with your squadron in the briefing room before taking off to the evolving battlefields across the galaxy. Pilots will triumph as a team in known and never-before-seen locations, including the gas giant of Yavin Prime and the shattered moon of Galitan.”
The website also writes “take full control of different starfighter classes from both the New Republic and Imperial fleets,” which to me means this game is taking place at the backend of Return of the Jedi.
Most interesting for VR fans is the little tidbit that you’ll be able to play the entirety of the game in VR on both PSVR and PC VR systems. Not just the single players, the entire game. The EA website even mentions cross-play support for the multiplayer.
Motive Montreal is working on the game and they were previously responsible for the single-player aspect of Star Wars: Battlefront II. The writing team of Mitch Dyer (Star Wars: Battlefront II) and Joanna Berry (Mass Effect: Andromeda) are writing the story.
Expect the full gameplay reveal during EA Play Live this coming Friday at 9 AM AEST.
