EA released a brand new single-player trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons during Opening Night Live. It showed off several characters, set the stage for the story and, of course, ship combat.
The trailer began by explaining where the story takes place — which is shortly after Return of the Jedi. We then see some extended universe characters making their first appearances in video game form.
On the side of the Empire. Admiral Sloane is an important character in the books, namely the Aftermath series by Chuck Wendig.
On the New Republic side, we see Hera Sydulla who was one of the leading characters in the animated series, Star Wars: Rebels.
These two moments were my personal favourites from the trailer. But the gameplay that was shown off was also very cool. Ships seem like they control a lot better than in the Battlefront series. Some tight and fast maneuvers can be seen in the trailer.
