As always, plenty of NEW video games are released each year, but for some, it’s coming back to the games they’ve already spent hundreds of hours in and working through the latest updates that keep their favourite worlds feeling fresh and exciting.

Here are our picks for the Top 5 Best ongoing games that received updates in 2024.

5.) Teamfight Tactics

Is it a coincidence that I got back into Teamfight Tactics around the same time that Arcane: Season 2 was releasing? No, it is not. And Riot certainly knew people were going to be jumping back into their League of Legends Auto Battler with a bunch of Arcane-related tie-ins and collectables. It was super easy to jump back in, whether on PC, Phone or Tablet.

4.) Pokemon GO

In 2024, Pokemon GO received a visual upgrade, the avatar options got a makeover, the photography features got some new features, and, of course, there were new Pokemon to catch. There were also new walking trails and more to keep on giving trainers new ways to interact with their Pokemon world and help integrate it into getting them moving or making friends.

3.) Marvel Snap

Entering its third year in the market, Marvel Snap is still going on as strongly as ever. With a consistent release schedule with new cards, variants and seasons coming regularly, there is always something else to attain in the game and a reason to sign in each day. Developer Second Dinner also introduced a couple of new limited-time game modes to spice things up and give players another way to play the game.

2.) Fortnite

Everything from Metallica to comic book characters and even Snoop Dogg himself made it to Fortnite this year. If you ever thought the crossovers would end and Fortnite might be on its end of ideas for content crossover, fear not! The juggernaut that is Fortnite doesn’t seem to look like it will ever slow down.

1.) Diablo 4

Since its release in 2023, Diablo IV has continued to release its estimated four seasons of content a year. Each season has kept things fresh and added to the game’s already dark tales and mechanics. The addition to the endgame and systems has kept players hooked while continuing to keep things fresh. The game is still able to be battled solo or as a group. The game has also had numerous tweaks to meet player demands around balancing and enhancing the title. It will be interesting to see what the next year of content brings for this dungeon crawler.
