The Future Games Show – Summer Showcase was full of World Premieres, new looks at games we’ve been waiting for information on and surprise new additions to my wishlists. The show was hosted by Yuri Lowenthal and Laura Bailey this year, which made for fantastic hosts, and the whole showcase was a bit over an hour.
Here are all the trailers and news from the Future Games Show – Summer Showcase.
Highwater Musical Performance
Kicking the show off with style was Tamara Jokic and Gilad Barakan performing “Beyond the Waves,” from the soundtrack to Highwater, which is currently available on Netflix, and coming o P.C., PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch later this year.
This is a post-apocalyptic “CaR-PG” where you team up with a group of rag-tag racers to overthrow the top dog in the racing world.
Resistor was a world premiere for The Future Games Shopw and is coming to P.C., PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Here’s a trailer featuring a lot of dinos, and the playtest for Instinction will apparently be starting soon for PC
Take trucker sims and combine them was a space game, and it looks like you’ll get something along the lines of Star Trucker, which is set to release in 2024.
Lords of the Fallen
This was a developer presentation that dove into Lords of the Fallen, which is set to release on P.C., PlayStation and Xbox on October 13th, 2023.
Headbangers: Rhythm Royale
I don’t know what the gameplay of Headbangers: Rhythm Royale is, but it won my attention with this adorably stupid trailer and ridiculously catchy song.
Headbangers: Rhythme Royale was described as a rhythm-based battle royale, and it’s coming to P.C., PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch in 2023.
The Last Faith
Mix in a bit of souls-like and Metroidvania for The Last Faith, which is releasing on P.C., PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch in October 2023.
Developer Carlo Bianchi gives a deep-dive into the Storm in a Teacup‘s upcoming game, Steel Seed, which is coming soon to P.C., PlayStation and Xbox.
Restore the alien environment of a distant planet in Distant Bloom, coming to P.C. soon.
Go Right Fantastic
Not much was shown in terms of gameplay, but this is a top-down co-op brawler coming to P.C. later this year.
Challenge all, “En Garde!” In this action-adventure game when it releases on P.C. in 2023.
Alaskan Road Truckers
Every time one of these trucker games gets a new trailer, I wonder, “could I enjoy these games?” And this trailer featured a few more RPG-like elements to the typical trucker game, so maybe?
The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales
Although a cinematic trailer introduced The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales, the idea of a game where you’re playing someone diving into book worlds and stealing significant and historic literary items is really unique.
The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales is coming to P.C., PlayStation and Xbox on June 22nd.
The second Deceit game looks to up the ante of all elements of the social subterfuge genre.
Life by You
King Choi from Paradox Tectonic talked about Life by You and the upcoming Early Access launch on September 12th for P.C.
Play squash in space when C-Smash V.R.S. releases on PS VR2 in June.
MADiSON was very well received in 2022 when it was released, and now the scary is coming to V.R. for Steam V.R. and PS VR2 in MADiSON V.R.
Do all the skating you want from the comfort of your home in V.R. Skater when it releases for PS VR2 in 2023.
The sequel to the fantastic first Firewall game got a little more footage here showing the guns, explosions and maps.
Firewall Ultra will be released later in 2023 for PS VR2.
Wallace and Gromit: The Gran Getaway
No gameplay here, but The Grand Getaway is coming to Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro in 2023.
It’s not the Deponia, you know, but this story-driven survival game will put a twist on the classic point-and-click adventure game.
In this post-apocalyptic game where water is treated like gold (i.e., Max Max), you can work alone or with others online to survive.
Laika: Aged Through Blood
Is this a new genre? It could be because Laika is a narrative-driven motorbike combat game with Metroidvania elements.
Adventure and battle in space to conquer Mars for yourself in Space Gears.
Layers of Fear
A terrifying trailer for Layers of Fear sets up the story, protagonist and surreal worlds seen in Layers of Fear, which is coming to PC, Mac, PlayStation and Xbox on June 15th.
The late-animation style will make you think of Cuphead in this 2D co-op platformer coming to P.C. and consoles later this year.
This is a dark fantasy deckbuilding RPG which is out now on P.C.
Moving Out 2
The F.A.R.T. Squad are returning for more moving action in Moving Out 2, which is coming to PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch soon.
“Ones To Watch” Montage

Punch Club 2
Venture to the Vile
Warhaven is a free-to-play fantasy brawler featuring 16v16 battles, and it’s coming to PC later this year.
The next game in the Steamworld universe is a city builder, which is coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox in 2023.
Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle
This is a 90s’ inspired horror game where the protagonist can freeze enemies and then destroy them. Daymare 1994 is coming to P.C., PlayStation and Xbox on August 30th, 2023.
Not much was shown in this gameplay trailer, but a Steam demo is coming soon to PC.
Ruffy and the Riverside
Ruffy can swap things where he wants, which both leads to great platforming solutions, but also seems to cause some enemies to hate them. Ruffy and Riverside is coming to PC and Nintendo Switch later in 2023.
Unreal Engine 5 Showcase
A showcase of the power of Unreal Engine 5 showed what it can achieve.
Fretless: The Wrath of Riffson
This is a deckbuilding RPG with a mix of music and pixel art, and the game will release in 2024.
Befriend dinosaurs and build yourself a dino-ranch in Paleo Pines when it releases for PC on September 26th.
In this co-op action RPG you must use everything you’ve got to fend off beasts and bees in this pixelated world.
Ones To Play” Montage
Every game in the “Ones to Play” montage has a demo available now for you to check out.

This is a wholesome train simulator about connecting voxel railways.
Collect plans and craft supplies and go on an adventure as a witch in Reka, coming to PC n 2024.
Company of Heroes 3
Here’s a trailer for Company of Heroes 3: Console Edition, which is out now on PlayStation and Xbox.
Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical
A new trailer showcased some of Stray Gods’ romanceable characters/gods in Stray Gods.
Laura Bailey also announced that Stray Gods would be coming to Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch now, as well as the previously announced PC on August 3rd, 2023.
Set inside a sinister circus, this puzzle/exploration and horror game is coming to PC soon.
The developers behind Pacific Drive talked about their own time driving the station wagon in Pacific Drive, as well as how they hope players will feel an attachment to their car when Pacific Drive releases on PC and PS5 later this year.
A very loud and violent trailer introduced Cookie Cutter, a pop-punk Metroidvania where you play as an android who’s full of rage.
Cookie Cutter will release on PC later in 2023.
Evoking the top-down GTA games, this is a crime-fighting adventure where you play as a rookie cop.
The Precinct is coming to PC, PlayStation and Xbox soon.
More scares for you horror fans as a new trailer for Luto showed that there is no escape, especially once the game releases on PC and consoles soon.
The Spirit of the Samurai
The “one more thing” reveal for this year’s Summer FGS show was the reveal of The Spirit of the Samurai, a stop-motion horror Metroidvania inspired by Japanese mythology.
The Spirit of the Samurai is coming in 2024.
