Umbrella Entertainment has shared the release date for The Toxic Avenger, which will hit Australian cinemas on August 28 following its debut at the Melbourne International Film Festival on August 16.
The Toxic Avenger is a new take on the 1984 cult classic, which also spawned three sequels, a short-lived animated series and more. This new take on the film follows the core premise where a janitor goes through a freak accident and is transformed into a toxic hero who uses his mop for good and to battle evil.

The Toxic Avenger is directed and written by Macon Blair and stars Peter Dinklage, Elijah Wood and Kevin Bacon.
