A shocking reveal that Shawn Layden would be leaving his position as Worldwide Studios Chairman earlier last week sent a shockwave through the PlayStation fanbase.
The news was announced via Twitter, and not Shawn’s account, but the PlayStation account.
The tweet simply read:
“It is with great emotion that we announce that Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden will be departing SIE. His visionary leadership will be greatly missed. We wish him success in future endeavors and are deeply grateful for his years of service. Thanks for everything, Shawn!”
Of course, the rumour mill started going and many online started assuming it could only be for negative reasons that Shawn would leave PlayStation. We currently have no idea why he left, but on Platinum Explosion this week Dylan brings up why he thinks everyone should just calm down for the moment and stop acting like the PS5 is already a failure because of this news.
