We all love battle royale games yeah? How about Worms? I mean the video game series, not actual worms. Well, how about mushin’ those two together!?
That’s right, Worms Rumble is a brand new game coming later this year for PS4, PC and PS5 (whenever that’s out).
Check out the trailer below
It’s real-time worms action. Which is a shocking difference to the turn-based action you’ve probably come to expect from the franchise
The game will feature three multiplayer modes with up to 32 players as well as cross-play support across PlayStation and PC.
Worms Rumble will feature a deathmatch mode as well as ‘Last Worm Standing’ solo and squad modes for the ultimate wiggly battle royale.
As you play you’ll earn XP to level up and unlock skins for both your worm and guns, as well as unlockable emotes. There will also be an in-game currency to unlock further material.
Adam Findlay, Lead Designer and developer, Team17, said this about the reveal:
“Yes we teased a new Worms game earlier in the year, and yes some in the community were speculating that we’d be taking the franchise into real-time action – and they were, of course, correct! Worms Rumble represents a significant rethink around the Worms experience, and not just because of the switch from turn-based gameplay. The up-to-32-player online cross-play between generations of PlayStation consoles and PC will unite the community and newcomers to the series in wonderfully Worm-tastic mayhem!”
You can sign up for a closed beta starting on the 15th of July on Steam now at THIS LINK.
