Yellowjackets has been one of the breakout new series of 2022, with it receiving a second series order just five episodes into its first seasons run. This morning Deadline has exclusively revealed that we can expect even more Yellowjackets, with it receiving a third season renewal ahead of the second season’s March 26th premiere.

Yellowjackets has been one of my favourite shows of 2022. Combining teen drama with a phycological horror story as a girls’ soccer team crash lands in the middle of the wilderness where they’ll have to fight to survive while combining a second time-line in the future where we see the adult characters that return home, the show has plenty of mysteries and drama to keep you intrigued episode after episode.

According to Deadline, the renewal comes at such an odd time that it is tied into picking up the cast’s options, which are tied into mid-December. Of course, it also shows faith and commitment by Showtime and ParamountChris McCarthy, the President/CEO at Showtime and Paramount Media Networks, called Yellowjackets “a runaway success.”

“As we head into 2023 and beyond, our plan is to lean into Showtime’s strengths and focus on three key areas that have defined the brand. Complex and subversive antihero’s like Dexter and Yellowjackets, powerful high-stakes worlds like Homeland and Billions, and unconventional cultural takes like The L Word and The Chi – all with an eye towards making the biggest hits possible and building them into hit franchises as we have done very successfully across the company. From Yellowstone, to South Park and to our global unscripted formats, these franchises have helped to drive Paramount+ to the fastest growing streaming service in the US two years in a row, and now we are excited to bring this franchise thinking into the great set of hit series that have defined Showtime.”
