The entry-level Yunzi M2 8K Wireless Gaming Mouse offers solid usability and is easy to set up and get comfortable with; however, a few elements may turn some users off. Not enough to ruin the device’s overall performance, but still worth mentioning below.

Moving between websites, documents and the various programs I use throughout the day has felt responsive and consistent. For the everyday productivity work I’ve primarily been using it for, nothing has made me want to swap back to another mouse immediately, apart from how clicky it is. You get a clear tactile and audible response when you press the main buttons, and I noticed it fairly quickly after starting to use the mouse.

Whether that’s positive or negative depends heavily on personal preference, which might be something you want when gaming with it, to get some audible feedback to all those headshots, or to annoy your partner in the room next door. However, it’s not a mouse I’d suggest using when you’re recording a podcast (hey, did you know Explosion Network does plenty of those!)

I can see some people really enjoying the feedback. There’s something satisfying about a mouse giving you an obvious response with every click, particularly if you prefer peripherals that feel deliberate and tactile. But if you’re specifically looking for a quiet mouse, or you’re planning to use the M2 alongside other people in an office or shared workspace, it could get distracting.

Battery life has been one of the weaker aspects of my time with the Yuzi M2. It’s been okay, and I haven’t reached the point where keeping the mouse charged has become a serious frustration, but I’ve found myself needing to charge it more frequently than I expected.

The connection through both Bluetooth and 2.4GHz via the supplied dongle also had issues. I get Bluetooth connection delays, but even with the supplied dongle, I still have obvious connection issues, which were only mild frustrations when doing general productivity work for Explosion Network on my PC. Still, when I tried to play a game, it became a major issue that made me want to switch right away. It also meant I mostly left the mouse plugged in via USB during use, effectively making it wired, to help with both the connection and battery-life problems I was having.

I looked into reports of others having similar connection issues, but I couldn’t find much. I’m not sure what about my setup is causing these issues, but it’s frustrating that even a few of us using this mouse have run into them.

My overall experience with the Yuzi M2 has been mixed but mostly positive when I’m not having those connection issues. But nothing about it has completely blown me away. It’s comfortable, responsive most of the time, but feels a bit cheap, and the clicky factory is going to be a make-or-break factor.

REVIEW VERDICT

Yunzii M2

6.0 SCORE

If you like a mouse with noticeable, satisfying clicks and don't mind plugging it in more often, this is a solid, cheap little mouse. If you want something particularly quiet or a wireless mouse you can rely on, look elsewhere.
