A New StarCraft Game Is Coming, But It’s An Open-World Shooter

Blizzard has finally announced a new StarCraft game, revealing the franchise will return with a story-driven open-world shooter. Something a little different, but fans should still be pleased to see us return to this world.

Blizzard made the surprise announcement during the BlizzCon 2026 Opening Ceremony, marking a major shift for a franchise synonymous with real-time strategy.

Blizzard hasn’t revealed much more about the project yet, including its full title or any story details. And there will also be a long wait before release, with the new StarCraft currently targeting a 2030 release.
