Boomerang Fu is a chaotic party game in which you attempt to slice, dice and dodge your way to victory against either A.I or local multiplayer opponents. The game is from Sydney based developer Cranky Watermelon and is releasing next Friday on Steam, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.

We’ve already gone hands-on for a few rounds and you can look forward to more on the game in the coming week, including our full scored review — but for now, here’s a look at the games really handy replay feature in tandem with my current favourite power-up.

At the end of each round, you’re able to save a replay straight to your desktop in gif form and since some rounds only last seconds, and can feature such chaotic takedowns, the replays are great souvenirs.

There are multiple power-ups in Boomerang Fu you can pick-up as you play. Shields, multi-boomerangs and more. There’s even a battle royale power that see’s a ring start shrinking in around the field. My favourite power-up so far, however, has been what I’ve been referring to as the ‘Gary Mod’ powerup. It lets you hide as an object on the map.

The Gary Mod power-up has led to my two favourite replays so far, although they bring with them their own lessons.

EXHIBIT A

You can see here clearly how I was able to PLANT myself in disguise and then leap for a win against my unsuspecting foe (aka, our own Ciaran Marchant).

Side note: I love this GIF. I could watch this all day.

EXHIBIT B

You can see here… how I was hiding and the multi-boomerang action just happened to find me. There’s a downside to standing still and playing Solid Snake in these maps it appears.

Side note: I’m not as big a fan of this GIF.

I can see this replay feature leading to some great moments being shared on Twitter and I look forward to seeing them and sharing more of my own.

Follow our Twitch channel at twitch.tv/explosionnetwork over the coming days as I plan to stream some Boomerang Fu.

Boomerang Fu is releasing on PC, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One on August 14th.
