German studio Gunzilla Games has announced that they welcome Neil Blomkamp, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter and director, as the studio’s new Chief Visionary Officer. Blomkamp’s previous directorial works include District 9, Elysium and Chappie. His latest film, Demonic, is releasing next on August 20th.

Blomkamp has joined the company to help work on a currently unannounced multiplayer AAA shooter that’ll be released for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. He stated that Gunzilla has a strong vision, with a team of industry veterans pushing the boundaries of gameplay and player freedom. 

My own big-screen film experience will hopefully help shape new ways of interactive storytelling and next-generation visuals,” stated Blomkamp. “And by making best use of everything today’s video game development technologies have on offer, we will jointly create an immersive experience like we’ve never seen before.”

Gunzilla Games HQ is based in Frankfurt, Germany, but they also have offices in Los Angles, USA and Kyiv, Ukraine. The studio is helmed by ex-Crytek board member Alexander Zoll and CEO Vlad Korolev.
