At Anime Expo in Los Angeles, CD Projekt Red has announced that TRIGGER will re-team with them to create a new series of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. It won’t be a second season following any of the characters from 2022, but instead will be a standalone new story, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II, to highlight this fact.
The follow-up won’t see the director of the first season, Hiroyuki Imaishi, return as he has announced he’ll be passing the torch to Kai Ikarashi as the director. Ikarashi did work in the art department for the first season.
Bartosz Sztybor, showrunner, story writer, and producer on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and now Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II, said:
“David’s story might be over, but there’s plenty more to discover in Night City. And to again have the legendary animation studio TRIGGER along for the ride makes us at CD PROJEKT RED so excited to introduce a raw, real chronicle of redemption and revenge, something unlike what we’ve done before.”
