“This is Furukawa. At today’s Corporate Management Policy Briefing, we announced that Nintendo Switch software will also be playable on the successor to Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch Online will be available on the successor to Nintendo Switch as well. Further information about the successor to Nintendo Switch, including its compatibility with Nintendo Switch, will be announced at a later date.”
And then on the Nintendo Japan website noted:
“Certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2. Details will be shared on the Nintendo website at a later date.”
What could cause certain games not to be compatible? We’ll have to wait and see. But it could be certain games like the Ring Fit if the Joycons run differently and don’t pick up certain features that are included in that game. We’ll have to wait to find out.
