EA held their yearly EA Play Live event early Friday morning, and with it came the usual mix of surprises and disappointments. Fortunately, we were warned ahead of time about the disappointments — no Dragon Age, no Skate, for example. But for what was included in the show, there’s a little of something for everyone here.
Let’s take a look at everything that was revealed at this year’s EA Play Live.
GRID Legends

Codemasters revealed their latest game after EA purchased the developer for $1.2 billion earlier this year. It’s a racer, of course, but Grid Legends is focusing on a narrative about becoming the best racer, a legend if you will. One of the actors in the game is Ncuti Gatwa, of Netflix’s Sex Education fame.
Grid Legends will release in 2022 for PC, Xbox and PlayStation.

It’d been a while since we’d seen anything about Lost in Random, which was revealed last years EA Play Live. In a new gameplay adventure, we see the gothic-inspired world, a mix of the games 3D adventure, and the combat that uses dice on battlefields and a card system to perform attacks.
Lost in Random is releasing on September 10th for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Everything about Battlefield 2042 seems to be coming together to deliver the best Battlefield game in years. So far, what we’d seen of the game was exciting enough, but today during EA Play Live, DICE revealed what they’re calling ‘Battlefield Portal,’ a community-driven portable about changing the rules of war. The portal will allow you to change settings in games, create custom modes and a logic edition so you can change victory conditions and more. What’s more, Battlefield Portal will also give you access to some of the franchises most famous and beloved maps.
At launch, the maps in Battlefield Portal are the following.
-
Battle Of The Bulge (Battlefield 1942)
-
El Alamein (Battlefield 1942)
-
Arica Harbor (Battlefield: Bad Company 2)
-
Valparaiso (Battlefield: Bad Company 2)
-
Caspian Border (Battlefield 3)
-
Noshahr Canals (Battlefield 3)
There’s a lot to read up about Battlefield Portal and all of the features it includes, and you can do that here.
Battlefield 2042 releases on October 22nd for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC.
Dead Space

Ending the show with a bang, EA and Motive officially revealed the remake of Dead Space. The teaser trailer shows a Necromorph devouring someone at the end of a hallway with its trademark limbs before we got a glimpse of Dead Space protagonist Issac Clarke bent of a workbench in his iconic suit. Nothing more was revealed today about the game, but given the title, the hallways, the image of the USG Ishimura floating in space, and the famous ‘cut of their limbs’ text written in blood on a wall — this is indeed a remake of the first game and not a new sequel.
Dead Space didn’t get a release date, but it is coming exclusively to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
That’s everything that was revealed during the EA Play Live 2021 show. If you’d like to watch it in full with host Xavier Woods taking you through all of the news, the full video is below for you.
